Fish Creek was one of four sites in the metro where we planted trees with genetic origins from south (Des Moines), Local (Rice county) and mid-continent (Roseau Co.). As part of this 10 year check back, we are enhancing all of them as a normal restoration practice.

Volunteers will install new protective fencing around the oaks.

We will discuss the research design and data to date of this Accelerated Genetic Migration of Bur Oak common garden study, as it will help inform future tree plantings in restorations, a key strategy for climate resilience.
