Salt Lake Birding Weekend is in its 49th year! We are excited to be partnering with Minnesota River Valley Audubon, Minnesota Ornithological Society, and Minnesota Master Naturalist to offer this exciting birding weekend. On Saturday, May 2, we will be traveling by coach bus to Salt Lake and another local birding hot spot. Lunch will be at the Marietta Legion, and the bird count tally dinner and guest speaker will be at the Montevideo Legion.

The cost of the event is $12.00 per person, which includes:
Coach bus ride to birding sites, and lunch accompanied by bird guides and local guides.
Coffee and doughnuts in the morning.

For a fee you can choose to add on the following:

Supper Friday Night Taco Bar at LqP Visitor Center $10.00 Lunch at the Marietta Legion for an additional $10.00 (BBQ, chips, beans, bar, beverage), vegetarian option available (egg salad sandwich, chips, bar, beverage) Supper at the Montevideo Legion for $20.00 (meatballs, gravy, potato, vegetable, dessert, beverage) Vegetarian option available Bird Guides will lead car caravan trips on Saturday afternoon. That will leave from Lac qui Parle Visitor Center. You can sign up on site for these local trips with bird guides

This trip is great for beginning all the way through advanced birders! You will see some rare species, meet awesome birders and get to see the prairie in spring. Bring your life list, eBird and iNaturalist to record all the cool stuff!!

The course cost is $20 and includes course manuals and supplies.

Amy Rager

Amy holds a BA in Elementary Education from the College of St. Scholastica and a MEd in Environmental Leadership and Learning from the University of MN. With over 30 years of experience in cooperative extension, Amy's career has been dedicated to intertwining her work with a passion for the environment. Since its inception in 2005, she has been an integral part of the Minnesota Master Naturalist program. Hailing from the Duluth area, Amy is a true native Minnesotan who has always cherished the outdoors, finding joy in sharing her love and knowledge with others.
